Allan Onuko, of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, tragically had his life taken from him on January 4, 2019. The accident, involving a semi-truck, happened in Harrison County Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Onuko was walking westbound in the middle lane of Interstate 20. The reason that he was walking in the lane is currently unknown, as the investigation is ongoing. Dejon Jackson, the semi-driver, was traveling in the same direction; and then hit Allan Onuko.
Allan was a 42 year old husband and father of two, with his third on the way. His wife, Everlyn, and his family have since created a GoFundMe page to cover funeral costs and more. After nine days, the GoFundMe page has raised over $20,000 of a $50,000 goal. This will help towards ensuring the financial security of his wife, his daughters Alanna and Ava, and his soon to be newborn. It will also cover the cost of transporting Onuko’s remains to Kenya, where he is from. His parents would like for him to be buried there, as a matter of tradition.
Strangers, and loved ones, are coming together to raise money for this devastating incident. Everlyn described Allan as a dedicated father and husband. “He always said, ‘Life is short. Forgive, laugh and love,” she adds.
